Hunter Safety Awards
The inaugural winners of the Hunter Safety Awards were announced on Friday evening 18 March, 2016 at a gala awards presentation with PHC Group being honoured with two awards.
The prestigious ‘Gold Safety Helmet’ sponsored by Blackwoods was awarded to Port Hunter Conveyors as the WHS Business of the Year. The judges maintained that, across the board, the approach to work health and safety by Port Hunter Conveyors was impressive/inspiring.
Sarah-Jane Dunford, Founder of the Hunter Safety Awards was quoted as saying, “Over the years Port Hunter Conveyors has demonstrated the ability to set goals and achieve targets. Their prime objective is the provision of a superior and sustained level of service that exceeds industry standards and our customers’ expectations.” She further went on to say, “There have been quantitative outputs from the focus on WHS by Port Hunter Conveyors, including an approximate 60% reduction in Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate and 40% reduction in Medical Treatment Injury Frequency Rate and at the time of their award application they were LTI free for 2015.”
Jared Dwyer, Port Hunter Conveyors’ Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Co-ordinator, was the proud recipient of the Young WHS Leader of the Year, sponsored by Lifestyle Cleaning Services. Jared, with his innovative ideas, was the driving force behind the improvements the organisation has implemented over the last four years.
